Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has insisted to the Scottish Sun that Steven Gerrard’s side have not been in contact with his nephew, Lewis.

Rangers are said to be interested in the Aberdeen midfielder, who has enjoyed an impressive season.

However, it seems that the Light Blues have not really pushed forward with their interest just yet.

“Every day my son speaks to Lewis on WhatsApp and he says there has been no contact from Rangers,” Ferguson said.

“But I think he would be a very good signing for them.

“He has still got a bit to go in terms of reaching the top level, but he has all the attributes.”

If Rangers were to bring in Ferguson he could enhance the quality of Gerrard’s midfield options.

At the age of 20, Ferguson already looks to be one of the most gifted young players in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers are likely to be on the hunt for new additions in the summer, as they have fallen short in the title race once again this term.

The Scottish Premiership was called off early this week, with Rangers ending the season 13 points behind rivals Celtic.
