Rangers and Celtic are competing to sign Glen Kamara, the Scottish Sun reported this week,

Kamara has impressed on loan at Dundee this season, where he signed on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal.

Celtic may feel that their superiority over Rangers makes them favourites, but the Ibrox side have an ace in the pack.

That comes in the form of Rangers veteran and assistant Jonatan Johansson, who like Kamara hails from Finland.

Rangers assistant coach Jonatan Johansson is seen prior to the Scottish Cup Semi-Final match between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park on April 23, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Johansson helped Rangers secure the signing of Alfredo Morelos last summer, who was the top scorer in Finland’s top tier.

Kamara was born in Finland and made his debut for their national team last year, and hopes to become a regular for the side.

He is a player Johansson will have been well aware of already and if Rangers are serious about signing Kamara then the former Gers forward could play a key role.

Kamara is a central midfielder who could potentially be a replacement for loanee Sean Goss.

Celtic have a financial advantage to try and land Kamara but Rangers should be confident they have a fighting chance too.
