Rangers star Ianis Hagi has been linked with a host of European sides since his permanent move to Ibrox 12 months ago – and a new report in Romania claims the Gers star could leave this summer for as little as €10million (£8.5million)
According to former Romanian international Ilie Dumitrescu, there is a clause in the Rangers star’s contract which allows him to leave Ibrox while, confusingly, Romanian site PlayTech.ro suggest his signing could cost as much as €13million (£11.2million).
“He has a pretty big clause,” said Dumitrescu, on the show Fotbal Club, from Digi Sport. “There is a possibility to be paid, but it’s a pretty big clause, not what is circulated in the press, about 10 million.
“It has a big clause! More! It’s bigger than what is written in the press. I don’t know, but it’s bigger than what is written in the press.”
Lazio, Sevilla, VfL Bochum and a host of Premier League sides have been credited with an interest in Hagi, with PlayTech suggesting Lazio could be the best fit as it would allow him to play in his preferred role as a second striker.
For much of his time at Ibrox, Hagi has been deployed as a right winger by Steven Gerrard, constantly popping up with vital goals and assists for the Light Blues this term.
Whether this reported clause exists in Hagi’s contract or not, the sort of figures mentioned are well below what Rangers can realistically expect to be looking for if they were to sell.
The 22-year-old scored in last night’s 3-0 win over Livingston to move Rangers to within 90 minutes of an invincible league season, playing a massive role in the win in West Lothian.
Prior to moving to Ibrox, Hagi has had spells with Viitorul Constanta, either side of a difficult stint at Fiorentina, as well as half a season at Genk in Belgium.
