Rangers goalkeeper Matt Gilks has suggested to The Scottish Sun that he wants to play against Celtic this weekend.

Mark Warburton’s side will take on Old Firm rivals Celtic at Hampden Park in Glasgow in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup on Sunday afternoon.

It remains to be seen if Gilks is given the nod ahead of Wes Foderingham by Warburton for the tie.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper has suggested that he is ready to play for Rangers against Celtic at Hampden Park.

The former Blackpool and Burnley custodian has never played in the stadium even during his time at the Scotland national football team.

“I’ve never actually played at Hampden; I have been involved with the Scotland set-up there but never come on,” Gilks told The Scottish Sun.

“This would be one of the biggest games I have played in if I was to start, I have played at Wembley a couple of times in the Championship Play-off Final and won international caps but this would definitely be up there.

“I have played big games before and you soak it in up until the whistle goes and then you have a job to do.”

Celtic will head into the tie on Sunday afternoon as favourites, but Rangers can get the better of the Bhoys.

If the Gers are able to score an early goal, then they will give themselves a good chance of winning against Brendan Rodgers’s side.

Rangers will head into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle away from home at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in the Scottish Premiership.
