Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has usually picked Wes Foderingham for the league and Gilks for the cup.

Matt Gilks has insisted that he expects to keep his starting spot for Rangers’ Scottish League Cup semi-final, as well as the final if the side reach that stage, the Evening Times reports.
Mark Warburton’s men booked their place in the last four after thrashing Queen of the South 5-0 at Ibrox on Tuesday, and could be drawn against either Celtic, Morton or the winner of Thursday’s quarter-final tie between Aberdeen and St Johnstone at Hampden Park.
Rangers’ Wes Foderingham
But despite the fact that the competition moving into the latter rounds may tempt the Gers boss to pick the man who has been their number one in the Scottish Premiership this term, Wes Foderingham, Gilks has claimed that he expects to be between the sticks for the upcoming games.
“I’m playing the cup games at the minute,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“Semi-final coming up, I will expect to play that, and obviously the final.
“Wes is doing well in the league. The manager has said to me that is how it is going to be at the minute and I am happy to go along with anything he says.”

Though Foderingham was the side’s undisputed first-choice last season and maintains that role in the top flight while he also shared the responsibility during the League Cup group-stages – both stoppers appeared twice during that stage – the 34-year-old’s form has been impressive enough to suggest that he deserves every opportunity that comes his way.
Since making his move to Ibrox, Gilks has not conceded a single goal, so the confidence that that kind of form will generate will surely keep him in an excellent frame of mind when they take to the pitch for their semi-final fixture.
