Kelly, who is yet to appear for the Rangers first team, was part of Pedro Caixinha’s squad that lost in Luxembourg on Tuesday.

Rangers goalkeeper Liam Kelly has apologised after a Snapchat message in which he criticised a handful of Gers fans was leaked online.

Kelly, who is yet to appear for Rangers’ first team, was part of the squad which travelled to Luxembourg for Tuesday’s embarrassing Europa League defeat against Progres Niederkorn.

A group of angry supporters surrounded the Rangers team coach afterwards, prompting a frustrated Kelly to write, in a video sent via the messaging app: “Any chance of letting us out without ******* hammering the bus?”

The 21-year-old, who claims the video was sent to a “trusted mate”, quickly incurred the wrath of the Rangers fans – and he later apologised to several of them individually.

Rangers, who took a one-goal lead into their first qualifying round second leg tie, were stunned by two second half goals to bring a premature end to their European adventure.

On the bright side, though, Pedro Caixinha’s side are yet to introduce two of their new recruits – Bruno Alves and Carlos Pena – while another one, Eduardo Herrera, has played only 13 minutes so far.

Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans could still arrive at Ibrox, with others likely to follow.
