Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor impressed with Robby McCrorie

Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers have brought Allan McGregor to Ibrox.

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has told the club’s official website that he has been very impressed with Ibrox teammate Robby McCrorie.

McCrorie is training with the Rangers first team in Spain, and new Ibrox signing McGregor has spoken highly of the 20-year-old.

McGregor, who started his professional club football career at Rangers and left the Gers for Besiktas in 2012, has returned to the Scottish club on a free transfer this summer following his departure from Hull City in the Championship in England at the end of last season.

McGregor told Rangers’ official website: “I’ve been very impressed [with Robby]. It’s only a week I have been in, but I am really impressed with him. He has everything about him and I am sure he will do really well in his career.”

Loaning out

McCrorie is a very talented and promising young goalkeeper, but it is hard to see the 20-year-old establish himself in Steven Gerrard’s first team at Rangers next season.

With McGregor, Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick ahead of him in the pecking order at Ibrox, the youngster is going to find it hard to even be in the squad on matchdays.

It would be best for the 20-year-old if he leaves Rangers on loan for another club in the Scottish Premiership or a top team in the Scottish Championship.

Training with senior players in Spain is certainly going to help McCrorie, and praise from McGregor is a massive boost to his confidence.
