Rangers are looking to bring a new manager after Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox exit – and Giovanni van Bronckhorst looks set for a return to Glasgow.

Steven Gerrard left Rangers on Thursday, taking over as the new manager of Premier League side Aston Villa.

Rangers can’t have been expecting to need a new manager, so Ross Wilson and co now need to move quickly.

The Daily Record claim that Rangers could have their new boss in place very quickly as Van bronkchorst has been in talks.

Van Bronckhorst was in London on Saturday for talks over a move to Rangers. The Gers allegedly view him as the perfect candidate and could secure the move by the end of today.

If anybody was doubting whether Van Bronckhorst really was in London this weekend, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has eased those concerns.

Sheth has taken to Twitter to post a video of Van Bronckhorst at the airport, with the Dutchman’s representative claiming the talks on Saturday were ‘positive’.

This seems ideal for Rangers – at least considering the circumstances.

Rangers would have rather not had this upheaval, of course, but Van Bronckhorst is a great candidate.

Van Bronckhorst knows Rangers having spent three years at Ibrox as a player.

As a coach, Van Bronckhorst guided Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in 2017 against all odds. He also added two domestic cups at De Kuip.

Silverware in the cabinet and Rangers in his blood, Van Bronckhorst seems ideal for the Rangers job.
