Rangers have been left very ‘encouraged’ after hearing that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is ‘desperate’ to return to management at Ibrox.

That’s according to The Scottish Sun, who claim that Van Bronckhorst has held further talks with Rangers.

Van Bronckhorst even expects a decision to be made over the next 24 hours, with Rangers surely hoping to make a swift appointment.

The Dutchman is top of a list of three final candidates according to this report.

Rangers are understood to be happy with how talks went with Van Bronckhorst, especially in terms of his desire to take the job.

Van Bronckhorst has been out of management since leaving Chinese side Guangzhou City in December 2020.

After nearly a year out of the game, Van Bronckhorst is desperate to get going.

Add in that Van Bronckhorst has an emotional connection to Rangers having spent three years at Ibrox as a player, and no wonder he wants this job so much.

A title winner and two-cup winner at Feyenoord, Van Bronckhorst has the track record Rangers want.

This deal has been days in the making now, and we could hear something concrete emerging from Ibrox by the end of today.

With Van Bronckhorst desperate to get back into management, Rangers will surely want him to be the man to replace Steven Gerrard – and hopefully clinch another title this season.
