Rangers are reportedly confident Steven Gerrard will remain manager at Ibrox next season after being touted as a replacement for Jose Mourinho at Tottenham following the Portuguese’s sacking.
Gerrard was named as a possible candidate for the Spurs job by Tony Cascarino in The Times, but according to GiveMeSport, the Light Blues are “all but certain” Gerrard will remain in Glasgow.
Cascarino thinks Gerrard has done an “extraordinary” job at Rangers and believes that linking up with the Liverpool and England icon would “excite the likes of Harry Kane”, saying: “One manager who looks capable of filling that role is Steven Gerrard,” he wrote.
“People say he will be the next Liverpool manager but maybe not, or, if so, perhaps he will do another job before then.
“What he has done at Rangers is extraordinary: the way he handles himself in interviews and the huge improvement of the team on the pitch.
“Would he excite the likes of Harry Kane? I would say he would.”
Gerrard is under contract at Rangers until 2024 and with the Gers making their return to the Champions League next season, the Ibrox side have plenty to look forward too.
While there remain some fears that Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool could entice Gerrard to move on from Ibrox, the Rangers hierarchy don’t appear to be worried that other Premier League offers could lure Gerrard away.
