Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been constantly linked with moves south of the border since arriving at Ibrox three years ago, with Spurs the latest side to be named as a possible destination for the Gers boss – but former Rangers star Michael Ball insists his old Merseyside rival isn’t ready to walk away from the Light Blues yet.

After romping to the Premiership title and smashing a host of records along the way, Gerrard’s stock as a manager is skyrocketing with interest from elsewhere an inevitability given how well he’s done.

But Ball thinks there is “probably” only one club on Gerrard’s mind should he decide to head back to England and take the next step in his managerial career, despite reported interest from Tottenham.

I think everybody probably knows what Steven’s end goal is,” Ball said, speaking to Football Transfer Tavern.

“I don’t think Steven’s ready to leave Rangers right now.”

Gerrard has had a remarkable week or so after lifting the Scottish Premiership title, winning all three Manager of the Year awards and then being inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

While the time will come that Gerrard will leave Ibrox, there’s no reason why he needs to move on soon to plod around in mid-table of the Premier League with the likes of Tottenham.
