Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has detailed the three targets he still has for his side in the final three games of the season – starting with tomorrow’s Old Firm clash with Celtic at Ibrox.
With the league title already sealed and the Gers knocked out of both cups, there’s no silverware left for Rangers to play for this term but it hasn’t stopped the Ibrox boss setting “small targets” for his squad.
The Gers can still finish the league season unbeaten, surpass the 100 points mark and break Chelsea’s British record for fewest league goals conceded; Rangers currently sit on 12 with Chelsea’s record at 15.
Gerrard confessed that winning the title so early put him in a “unique” situation trying to keep his players in the same “zone” they were earlier in the season.
“We want to keep as many clean sheets as we can and win the three games. If we do that we can surpass 100 points,” Gerrard said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“Those are the small targets I want to set the team, so we’ll go and try to win all the games remaining.
“Obviously it is an early stage to win the title and the challenge from there is to try to keep the players motivated all the way until the end.
“I think the good thing from our point of view is there are still some things that we want to try and achieve as a group. We want to try and set a clean sheet record if we can and we want to try and remain unbeaten.
“We have got a big game to look forward to this weekend.
“From my personal point of view, I want to try and keep the players as motivated as I can to try and finish the season as strong as we can.
“But it is a unique situation to win the league on March 7 and that weekend is unique because it is early.

“Naturally there will be certain players that just come away from where they were previous to that because everyone was in such a zone and so focused to get the club over the line because what we were trying to achieve was so important.”
