Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is delighted to see Allan McGregor crowned Scottish Premiership Player of the Year and hailed the keeper after “world-class performances” for the Light Blues this season.
The veteran keeper has been in sensational form as the Light Blues have racked up a number of defensive records this season – with a few more still to follow – and Gerrard thinks he was the right pick for Player of the Year.
McGregor will be looking to play a big part in helping Rangers end the Premiership season unbeaten when they bring the curtain down on the campaign this afternoon against Aberdeen.
While Gerrard admits there were a number of candidates for the award in his side, the Gers boss “can’t argue against” McGregor winning as he praised the Ibrox number one.
“We had some real consistent performers but I can’t argue against Greegsy,” Gerrard said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“He has put in world-class performances.
“Some of the saves I have seen him make this season I haven’t seen before. I am really pleased for him.”
Gerrard’s side will pick up the piece of silverware they were focused on winning this afternoon when they are presented with the Scottish Premiership trophy.

After a decade without a major trophy, it is sure to spark jubilant scenes across Glasgow as Gerrard’s reputation as a coach continues to blossom.
