Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has given credit to his players after completing a double of individual honours by being named the SPFL’s Premiership Manager of the Year to go with the Football Writers’ award he won earlier in the week.
Gerrard was confirmed as the winner this morning, to the surprise of no one, and insisted it was all about his players and what they can do as a group.
The Ibrox boss also credited his start in coaching at Liverpool’s Academy, and believes he was right to ignore the critics who thought he was too inexperienced to “get Rangers back to where they belong.”
“It has been a great week for me personally and I am grateful to receive another award but for me, it is all about the players as they have given everything to me,” Gerrard said.
“This is a team game and is about what we can achieve as a group.
“What I achieved at Liverpool I am really proud of and learning to coach there prepared me for this opportunity.
” Many thought I was a rookie and too inexperienced but I saw an opportunity at Rangers to become a champion and to get Rangers back to where they belong.”
Rangers could still end the season with several new records with Gerrard’s side aiming to record a 26th clean sheet and finish the campaign with the British record for fewest goals conceded in a 38-game season.

The Light Blues could also end the season as invincibles and become the first Rangers side in over 120 years to finish a top flight season without losing a game.
