Glasgow Rangers legend David Robertson thinks Ibrox new-boy George Edmundson could become both a star and a lucrative asset for the Gers.

Glasgow Rangers summer signing George Edmundson has been tipped to potentially become “the new Harry Maguire” by Ibrox legend David Robertson, in conversation with the official Rangers podcast.
The 21-year-old defender joined Rangers from English lower-league side Oldham Athletic on 21 June for an undisclosed fee reported by the Daily Record as being £650,000 and penned a four-year contract at Ibrox.
Edmundson has got off to a good start to life at Rangers and delivered a superb performance for the Light Blues in the Europa League second qualifying round first leg against Progres Niederkorn.
A surprise starter ahead of Nikola Katic and Filip Helander, he justified his inclusion as he rarely put a foot wrong all night against the Luxembourg outfit, his distribution and reading of the game top class.
Robertson thinks Edmundson could become both a top player and a lucrative asset for Rangers – and it’s worth bearing in mind that Maguire is being linked with a £80million move to Manchester United (The Independent), which is 123 times what the Gers reportedly paid for Edmundson.

“The young lad at the back coming in, he did not put a foot wrong [against Progres Niederkorn]”, Robertson told the official Rangers podcast. “[He is] potentially the new Harry Maguire, you never know, maybe Rangers will get a big amount of money for him [in the future].”
Rangers lock horns with Derby County at Ibrox on Sunday, their final pre-season friendly of 2019-20, and then travel to Luxembourg for the second leg against Progres next Thursday ahead of beginning their quest for Scottish Premiership title number 55 away at Kilmarnock on Sunday.
