Rangers forward Martyn Waghorn has suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that Kenny Miller can star for the club next season.

Miller is in his third spell at Rangers this season, and his current deal with the Gers runs out in the summer, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha recently suggested to The Daily Record that it is not guaranteed that the striker will be offered a new contract.

Rangers forward Waghorn, who is 27 years of age, believes that his 37-year-old teammate can continue to succeed for the Ibrox outfit.

“He has just shown what a good pro can do,” Waghorn told The Glasgow Evening Times about Miller. “He applies himself right, he works hard, he does everything he needs to do. He is a great example for everyone.

“I don’t see why [he can’t be here next season]. He is still performing. He is showing no signs of slowing up at this late stage of the season. So he has clearly got enough left in the tank.”

Miller may be 37 years of age, but the former Celtic striker is still going strong and has been one of the best players for Rangers this season.

Having the Scotsman a new one-year contract would be a wise move from the Gers. Miller would still be able to lead the line next season, and at the very least, he would be able to make an impact as a substitute.

Rangers need experienced and mature players in the squad to close the gap between themselves and Celtic next season. Not having Miller in the squad would be a massive mistake on the part of the Gers.
