Glasgow Rangers forward Joe Dodoo is hoping to catching the eye during his time away from Ibrox.
Rangers forward Joe Dodoo has received a boost as he looks to make an impact during his time out on loan, as he was given the chance to make his return after more than a month out with injury at the weekend.
Dodoo has enjoyed a decent spell with Blackpool, scoring six goals in 20 appearances for the League One side. He surely has a mountain to climb if he wants to force his way into Steven Gerrard’s plans upon his return.
But the 23-year-old has shown moments of real quality during his time at Bloomfield Road, so it seemed to be a blow for Terry McPhillips’ side when he picked up an injury last month. His most recent appearance before the weekend came in the New Year’s Day clash with Sunderland.
But moments after Harry Pritchard put Blackpool 2-0 ahead in the 88th minute against Walsall on Saturday, Dodoo was handed the chance to make his return as he came off the bench for the final minutes of the game.
And after the full-time whistle, he took to Twitter to express his delight at the win and making his comeback.
With Rangers looking incredibly strong in attacking areas, it does seem unlikely that Dodoo’s long-term future will lie at Ibrox. But if he can now stay fit until the end of the season and enjoy a prolonged run of form, then perhaps he may have an outside chance of giving Gerrard a decision to consider.
At the very least, a great run until the summer will ensure that Dodoo puts himself in the shop window if it becomes apparent that his Rangers prospects do remain bleak.
