Rangers winger Josh McPake is excited to join EFL League One side Morecambe on loan until the end of the season and is looking forward to stepping up from playing in League Two with Harrogate Town last season.

McPake signed a contract to keep him at Ibrox until 2024 before making the switch to the Shrimps, managed by ex-Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson, and the Scotland youth international thinks they deserved to win promotion to the third tier last season.

McPake admits he’s looking forward to getting to work with his new teammates, confessing that he felt they were “quite a good team” after facing them last season.

“I played in League Two and it was a tough league to get in but I’m glad to be out of it and taking another step up,” he said, speaking to Morecambe’s official website.

“I was playing with Harrogate last season, so I played against Morecambe a few times and I thought they were quite a good team and they deserved to get promotion.

“I’m looking forward to getting in and seeing the lads.”

Rangers prospect will be hoping to impress in England once again

McPake’s stint at Harrogate saw the Rangers youngster earn rave reviews and he’ll be desperate to repeat that as he aims to force his way into the first-team plans at Ibrox.

After glowing praise from Academy chief Craig Mulholland recently, McPake seems to have revived his Gers career after looking like it had stalled badly.

With three more years on his Rangers contract, the forward has plenty of faith from the Gers management team in his ability.
