Rangers manager Steven Gerrard thinks the Gers support will be “proud” of Scott Wright after his “superhuman” performance off the bench against Alashkert in the Europa League playoff at Ibrox.

Kent was a half-time replacement for the poor Ryan Kent and injected some urgency and directness into the Rangers attack as they looked for the opening goal.
The Rangers boss admits it was “tough” for Wright to come on with the Gers down to 10 men after John Lundstram’s red card and thinks that’s the sort of performance that will win over the Ibrox support.
“I thought he was outstanding,” Gerrard told Rangers TV. “I thought his effort was superhuman. He ran for the team, he didn’t play with any ego, everything we asked him to do he did it and more.
“That’s what gets these fans to take to you. I am sure these fans tonight will be ever so proud of Scott Wright because his effort was superhuman. It was tough for him.
“He was chasing shadows for the sake of the team, he was selfless. But I am so proud of Scott Wright after tonight’s performance.”
Wright has impressed fans since his move from Aberdeen at the start of the year and it is clear he has benefited from making is switch to Ibrox early.

The wideman looks comfortable in his surroundings now and has bulked up during his early months as a Rangers player.
Gerrard needs to give him a consistent run of games now and let him prove he can properly challenge – and possibly even depose – the likes of Ryan Kent from their virtually guaranteed berth in the starting XI.
