A report in GiveMeSport today has claimed that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is not high on the list of Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial targets.

Steven Gerrard to Tottenham Hotspur speculation

90min reported at the weekend that Rangers boss Gerrard is one of the managers Spurs could approach if they decide to part company with Jose Mourinho.

Spurs have been knocked out of the Europa League, and there is a chance that the North London outfit may not finish in the Premier League top four.

Gerrard has just won the Scottish Premiership title and guided Rangers to the Europa League Round of 16 this season, and while it is hard to see the Liverpool legend step down from his role now, links with big Premier League clubs such as Tottenham are always worrying.

GiveMeSport has reported today that Gerrard is not high on the list of managers that Tottenham are potentially looking at, adding that ‘there are plenty of other candidates who Spurs would turn to first should they call an abrupt end to the Mourinho experiment’.

Good news for Rangers

The report in GiveMeSport today is absolutely brilliant news for Rangers fans. Gerrard being low in Spurs’ wishlist will come as a relief to the Gers’ supporters.

A report in The Telegraph last week claimed that Gerrard has turned down interest from a Premier League club. It shows just how committed the former England international midfielder is to the Gers, and how much attention he is getting in England because of his success at Ibrox.

Of course, no one expects Gerrard to stay at Rangers forever, and if a big and ambitious club such as Tottenham come calling, then there is always the danger of a move away.

Today’s report suggests that Tottenham do not think that Gerrard is ready to take charge of the first team and replace Mourinho, and Rangers should be happy at that.
