The Rangers defender made a surprise return to Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard’s decision to start Jon Flanagan against Hearts raised eyebrows from some Rangers fans ahead of kick-off.
Flanagan, who reunited with Gerrard at Ibrox last summer, had only appeared nine times in the league prior to Wednesday night and last started against Aberdeen in December.
But with Andy Halliday and Borna Barisic each unavailable, the Englishman was given a reprieve.
But after helping his side to a 3-0 win against Hearts, the response to Flanagan’s performance afterwards was largely positive.
Jermain Defoe’s goal gave Rangers an early lead against Craig Levein’s team, one which was quickly doubled by Connor Goldson.
Scott Arfield’s strike then put the result beyond all doubt shortly after half-time, as the Gers bounced back from Sunday’s Old Firm defeat.

Rangers remain 13 points adrift of Celtic heading into the Premiership’s final six fixtures, and could have their title challenge ended in the coming weeks.
Gerrard’s team are, however, looking good for a second-placed finish, which would be their best in seven years.
