Katic was dropped by Rangers boss Steven Gerrard before the winter break.

Rangers take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday night in their first match since the winter break – and Gers fans are desperate to see Nikola Katic start at centre-back.
Steven Gerrard has a number of tough calls to make when picking his starting eleven, with new signings Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe expected to be included while centre-back is also a dilemma.
Connor Goldson is on his way back from an injury, but he will not be available for Wednesday night’s game as confirmed by Gerrard in his pre-Killie press conference.
It leaves the Rangers boss with Katic, Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley as options at centre-back, with the latter duo playing much more regularly than Croatian star Katic of late.

Indeed, Katic’s last start came more than two months ago in the 7-1 win against Motherwell, where he was taken off at half-time. He has since appeared only once, as a sub on boxing day during the 1-1 draw against Hibernian.
But after his impressive performance in Saturday’s 3-2 friendly win over HJK Helsinki in which the big centre-back scored from a corner, Rangers fans are desperate to see Katic start against Killie on Wednesday night.
