Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is suspended at the moment, but Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club are not missing him due to the form of Jermain Defoe.
Signed on an 18-month loan deal from Premier League club Bournemouth in the January transfer window, Defoe has been struggling to feature regularly in the Rangers starting lineup to Morelos.
The Colombia international is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and the 22-year-old has scored 17 goals in the league so far this season, according to WhoScored.
It must be hard for Rangers manager Gerrard to keep Morelos out of the starting lineup, but the youngster’s recent suspension has allow Defoe to take the centre-stage.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United striker has been playing well in recent weeks and has been finding the opposition’s net quite regularly.
The Englishman scored for Rangers in their 3-1 victory over Heart of Midlothian at the weekend to take his tally to seven league goals for the Gers.
Morelos has one more suspension to serve, but Rangers fans do not want the striker to go straight back into the team and want Defoe to retain his place in the team.
