Rangers will be desperate to put their 2-0 loss to Hamilton behind them on Friday night when they take on Dundee in the Scottish Premiership at Dens Park – and fans have urged Graeme Murty to start Eduardo Herrera.
Herrera, 29, has struggled at Ibrox since his move from Mexican giants Pumas in the summer, a deal that was orchestrated by former manager Pedro Caixinha.
The nine-time Mexico international did come on for first-choice striker Alfredo Morelos on Saturday, but was unable to change the course of the match as Hamilton earned a surprise 2-0 victory.
Herrera has managed just two goals in 13 league and cup appearances for Rangers this season, but he has started only one of those matches and is considered largely unproven in the Light Blues shirt.
That has led to fans urging interim manager Graeme Murty to hand the powerful striker a start for the Gers, as his physcial frame and aerial prowess could be the key to gaining three points at Dundee.
Most fans want to see Murty combine both Herrera and Morelos as a two-man partnership, with one fan even claiming he would “love Morelos and Herrera” to combine despite Morelos out of form at the moment – failing to score in his last nine games.
