Following the news that Ryan Jack is set for a move to Rangers this summer, Wednesday’s visit of Aberdeen should have given Gers fans a first-hand look at their prospective new signing.

But there was no sign of the 25-year-old at Ibrox, as Rangers slipped to a 2-1 defeat which consigned them to a third-placed Premiership finish.

As far as Rangers fans are concerned, the loss highlighted serious flaws in Pedro Caixinha’s midfield, with Josh Windass and Jon Toral taking the brunt of the flak on social media.

While Jack’s arrival would likely improve Rangers in that department, it was another Aberdeen player that appeared to catch the eye of the watching Gers fans – and not Kenny McLean, who has also been linked with a move to Ibrox this summer, but goalscorer Graeme Shinnie.

Of the three Aberdeen players, Shinnie would perhaps be the hardest for Rangers to lure, with his contract having another two years to run.

McLean’s deal expires at the end of next season, while Jack is set to become a free agent.
