Rangers ace Lafferty and Northern Ireland are at loggerheads.

Kyle Lafferty is at loggerheads with the Irish FA after they invoked FIFA’s five-day rule that sees him suspended for Rangers’ clash against Hamilton on Sunday – and Gers fans have urged him to retire.
The 31-year-old pulled out of Northern Ireland’s squad to face Austria and Bosnia & Herzegovina prior to the international break, despite making that announcement immediately after playing in Rangers’ 3-1 win over Hearts.
The Daily Record reported that the Irish FA have got revenge on Lafferty by invoking a five-day rule, which is hardly used in modern-day football, to bar him from featuring for his club for the first five days after the international break.
Lafferty may well have been in with a chance of featuring for Rangers on Sunday afternoon against Hamilton at the SuperSeal Stadium, with Martin Canning’s side perhaps struggling so much that Steven Gerrard would make changes.

But summer signing Lafferty, who has started well at Rangers since rejoining the club six years after leaving in 2012 with four goals in nine appearances, will now be forced to watch from the sidelines – if the clause is confirmed.
Rangers fans reacted to the news that Lafferty could be missing from the squad for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash away from home, with many stating that the striker should be done with Northern Ireland and just retire.
