Glasgow Rangers academy ace Kelly will continue his development away from Ibrox this season.

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to wish Ibrox academy ace Stephen Kelly the best of luck following his season-long loan switch to Ayr United, which was confirmed on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old, who signed a new deal at Ibrox in September to extend his stay at Rangers until the summer of 2021, will be with the Scottish Championship side for the 2019-20 campaign.
Coincidentally, Kelly had not only played against the Honest Men in a behind-closed-doors friendly just a day earlier, but had scored a hat-trick against them (Scottish Sun).
In addition, the teenager’s competitive debut for the Gers came against the same club, in a 4-0 win against the Honest Men in last season’s Scottish League Cup quarter-final.
“Stephen is very, very highly rated at Ibrox,” manager Ian McCall told Ayr’s website. “We had been speaking to Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister about him well before our game yesterday where he scored a hat trick.”
“He is a central midfielder who can play in a 2 or a 3 and is very versatile. He is always looking to move and pass the ball and he was in the top 3 at Rangers when they completed their fitness testing. We need him to integrate well at the club, feel like an Ayr United player and have a great season.”

Another highly rated Rangers youngster, Cammy Palmer, also made a temporary switch down a league this week by joining Partick Thistle on loan.
