Glasgow Rangers saw off St Joseph’s of Gibraltar with ease and Ibrox boyhood fan Docherty played a huge role.

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty has taken to Twitter with a message for the Ibrox fanbase following his impressive performance for the Gers in the Europa League qualifying round second leg against St Joseph’s.

The 22-year-old, back in the Rangers setup following a season on loan with Shrewsbury Town south of the border, claimed a hat-trick of assists as Steven Gerrard’s charges ran out 6-0 winners at Ibrox for a 10-0 win on aggregate.

Alfredo Morelos bagged a hat-trick, Jermain Defoe picked up a brace and Joe Aribo rounded off the scoring, but Docherty had a hand in one of the Colombian’s goals, won a penalty and provided the assist for Aribo, giving Gerrard much food for thought in the process.

Here is what the Milngavie-born ace and boyhood Rangers fan (Daily Record) wrote on the social media platform the day after the game:

Naturally, a number of Bears took to Twitter to congratulate him on his performance and called on him to keep delivering for the Ibrox side:

Rangers now have the chance to avenge one of the worst results in their recent history as they face a second qualifying round tie against Luxembourg’s Progres Niederkorn, who knocked the Light Blues out of the competition two years ago.

Greg Docherty of Rangers is seen during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Rangers and Wigan Athletic at Ibrox Stadium on July 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.
