Glasgow Rangers announced Edmundson’s arrival to Ibrox on Friday evening and he will be hoping to hit the ground running for Steven Gerrard and co.

Oldham's George Edmundson celebrates opening the scoring during the Sky Bet League 2 match between Oldham Athletic and Swindon Town at Boundary Park, Oldham on Saturday 13th April 2019.

New Glasgow Rangers signing George Edmundson has taken to Twitter with a message for the Bears fans following his switch to Ibrox from English Football League side Oldham Athletic.

On Friday, Gers confirmed on their official website that the 21-year-old defender has joined the Famous for an undisclosed fee reported by the Daily Record as being £650,000.

The Latics academy graduate has penned a four-year contract at Rangers – subject to international clearance – to become Steven Gerrard’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.

Here is what Edmundson wrote on Twitter – in what appears to be his first ever tweet – after completing his move north of the border:

Needless to say, the Bears loved his message and some took to the social media platform to wish him all the best in the Light Blue:

In the season just gone, Edmundson made 54 appearances across all competitions for Oldham – including in an impressive display in a shock 2-1 win away at then Premier League side Fulham in the FA Cup – and scored twice, according to Transfermarkt.

Edmundson, an imposing centre-back who stands 6ft 1in tall, is expected to provide competition for Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic in the heart of the Light Blues defence, and joins Sheyi Ojo, Greg Stewart, Steven Davis, Jake Hastie and Jordan Jones as new arrivals.
