A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to poke fun at the Ibrox club’s tweet announcing the Colts’ upcoming fixture in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.

The competition known as the Challenge Cup has a new sponsor, with the confectionery makers taking over from Irn Bru, who sponsored the tournament across each of the last three seasons.

The announcement was made prior to Wednesday’s draw as the ties for the first and second rounds were pulled out of the hat and the Rangers Colts will travel to face Berwick Rangers in the first round.

Should the Young Gers win that initial tie, they will face Stranraer in the second round, the Scottish League One side potentially the Colts’ next hurdle en route to a competition which the club’s senior team won in 2016, known as the Petrofac Training Cup back then.

Here is what some Bears made of the club’s announcement on the social media platform:

The tournament comprises 58 teams from the Scottish Championship, Leagues One and Two, Highland League, Lowland League, Under-21 Colt teams from each of the 12 Premiership clubs, and two clubs from each of the English National League, Northern Irish Premiership, League of Ireland and Welsh Premier League.
