Rangers made it two wins in two games during their trip to France as they beat Nice 2-0 on Saturday evening.
The Gers beat Lyon 2-0 on Thursday evening, and followed that up with another 2-0 victory to clinch the Veolia Trophy.
Jermain Defoe put Rangers in front as he finished a sweeping counter-attack, before Jamie Barjonas made it 2-0 late on.
Steven Gerrard will be delighted with the fitness and game time aspect, more so than a pre-season trophy.
When Gerrard spoke after the final whistle, he made very notable comments about blooding young players in his first team.
“I want to bring academy players in but first and foremost they have got to commit to the football club. If you don’t commit to the football club you won’t be seen anywhere near me,” said Gerrard. “And you have got to be good enough. So they have got to train every day like it means the world to them to play for Rangers.”

“I have been hearing a few things down at the academy that there’s been a bit of ego about. So they won’t be around me. I will only play the players who show me on a daily basis that they’re good enough to be around us and Nathan Patterson, Jamie Barjonas and Lewis Mayo have shown that since the first day. So they deserve the opportunities they have had,” he added.
Many fans believe that the comments were aimed towards winger Kai Kennedy, who wasn’t included in the trip to France.
The Daily Record claim that teenage prospect Kennedy has failed to sign a new contract with Rangers, and has now been told that he can leave the club.
Fans took to Twitter to suggest that Kennedy is ‘finished’ at Rangers after Gerrard’s comments, believing that there is no way back for him after Gerrard seemed to address the situation publicly.
