Rangers are still hunting for a new manager to fill the Ibrox dugout.
Rangers’ search for a new manager continues, with fans growing increasingly restless at the lack of an appointment.
The Gers sacked manager Pedro Caixinha last month following a 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock, which brought the curtain down on his seven-month stay at Ibrox.
Initially, fans were happy for caretaker Graeme Murty to step into the rule, especially after opening with a 3-1 win at Hearts and a 3-0 home win over Partick Thistle.
However, a home defeat to Hamilton Academical and Friday’s 2-1 loss at Dundee have sparked urgency among supporters, who believe that it’s time for the Rangers board to land a replacement for Caixinha now.
Sunday marked an entire month since Caixinha’s exit, and Rangers are no closer to finding a successor. There isn’t even a clear frontrunner for the job, as whilst Derek McInnes and Alex McLeish have been touted, neither is looking like a nailed-on favourite right now.
Fans are justifiably frustrated, but they shouldn’t be entirely surprised. Whilst Dave King and co waited just around two weeks to appoint Mark Warburton after the 2014/15 campaign, things weren’t quite so swift earlier this year.
When Warburton left the club, it took the Rangers board over a month to find a replacement, and even then, they plumped for Caixinha, who proved to be a catastrophic failure at Ibrox.
It’s a case of deja vu for Rangers fans, but they shouldn’t be surprised that Rangers are again taking more than a month to find a new manager – and if this delay helps them find the right candidate to take the club forward, it will be more than worth the wait for Gers supporters.
