Rangers are in the market for new signings in January, and boss Steven Gerrard is casting his net far and wide in the pursuit of additions.

The Gers will surely bring in a striker as well as a couple of midfielders, and there have been two new faces at Rangers training this week.

Photos emerged on Tuesday of American duo Matt Polster and Andrew Gutman training with Rangers, with Gerrard assessing both players for potential deals.

Polster is an MLS regular with Chicago Fire, but University of Indiana left back Gutman is a little less known outside of the States.

The 22-year-old has earned a reputation as an attack-minded, free-scoring left back in America, and it’s easy to see where he gets his inspiration from.

Speaking to The Hoosier Network earlier this year, Gutman revealed that he models himself on Real Madrid ace Marcelo, with regards to his attacking nature even ahead of defending.

“When I was a kid I used to watch hours of him on YouTube just dribbling…and a little bit of defending,” said Gutman, who is one of the top young talents in the US collegiate setup.

Gutman’s comments should excite Rangers fans, as landing another attack-minded left back to challenge Borna Barisic for years to come would be ideal – and if he can be anything like Marcelo, Rangers will be on to a winner.
