Rangers are reportedly in talks to bring Joe Aribo to Ibrox.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is seen during the Scottish Premier League match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on May 05, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the Daily Record, Rangers have opened talks with Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo about a move to Ibrox, which should excite the Ibrox faithful.

Aribo, 22, has excelled for Charlton with 10 goals and five assists this past season, but he looks set to move on this summer with his contract expiring.

The midfielder could now head to Rangers, and whilst there’s major interest in his signature from a host of clubs, Gers fans should be excited about his potential arrival.

If there’s one thing Gerrard has lacked in his Rangers midfield so far, it’s a real creative attacking midfielder, bringing some guile and goal threat to his side – and Aribo fits the bill.

The potential of pairing Glen Kamara with Aribo in midfield should be hugely appealing. Both players are so talented on the ball, possessing the ability to pick out passes but also go past players with grace and skill, whilst Aribo’s additional threat in the final third complements Kamara’s work rate perfectly.

Add in another hard-working player – be it Ryan Jack, Steven Davis or Scott Arfield – and Rangers can have their most exciting midfield trio in years, and ultimately one that could challenge Celtic.

Kamara was a bargain himself in January, whilst Aribo can fit a similar bill, with Rangers only needing to pay minimal compensation to lure him away from Charlton this summer.

The idea of Kamara and Aribo not only making a huge impact together immediately but also for years to come should be hugely exciting to Rangers fans, and they should be hoping that Gerrard can get a deal for Aribo over the line.
