Joey Barton applauds fans as he is substituted
Rangers and Joey Barton have finally parted ways after weeks of speculation over his future at the club.
Barton was signed by Mark Warburton in the summer after his excellent season at Burnley. He joined Rangers on a free transfer and quickly went about ruffling feathers at Ibrox.

Following a 5-1 loss to Celtic in the Old Firm derby in September Barton was involved in a training ground spat with Rangers team-mate Andy Halliday and was suspended by the club. He briefly returned to train with the Gers youth team but swiftly departed the club yet again.
Today saw the club confirm that Barton has left Rangers by mutual consent and that no further comment would be made from either party.
When Barton arrived, he came on the wave of an excellent campaign in the Championship and promised to become the best player in Scottish football. That, clearly, did not happen.

Rangers fans have however shared a mixed reaction to the news. Many are glad to see the back of Barton, who had clearly been divisive at best during his Ibrox stint.
Others are still frustrated as they are still being left in the dark over what exactly happened that day which saw Rangers punish Barton so severely and, eventually, release him.
