Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are said to be tracking the red-hot marksman.

If their Twitter reaction is anything to go by, Rangers fans don’t want Tom Eaves anywhere near Ibrox.

The Gers are expected to add another striker to their ranks in the January transfer window, after Umar Sadiq’s failure to adapt to life in the Scottish Premiership.

And according to Sky Sports, that striker might be Eaves.

The Gillingham hitman is leading the hunt for the Golden Boot in League One this season with 13 goals.

But quite a few Rangers supporters don’t seem overly bothered by his goalscoring exploits and would prefer someone a bit more high-profile.

Here’s how some fans of the Ibrox side reacted to the rumour:

Eaves is out of contract with the Gills next summer and he might well be available for a bargain fee next month.

But Rangers fans are right; Steven Gerrard should aim his sights just a little bit higher than the 26-year-old.

He isn’t a bad striker and his goal return down South proves as much, but is he really going to threaten Alfredo Morelos as the Gers’ first-choice striker? The answer is no.

Sure, signing someone of Morelos’s quality is very difficult, especially in January, but that must be the aim. Anything less and that’s how the likes of Sadiq wind up in Glasgow.
