Steven Gerrard has been quoted by Super Score Board in Monday’s pre-Hibernian press conference that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is “going nowhere” – but Rangers fans are not so sure.

The 22-year-old striker has been on fire for Rangers this season, having a hand in 29 goals during 32 league and cup appearances – and he was linked with a move to multiple European clubs in the summer.

He has found the back of the net 19 times after a brace against St. Johnstone on Sunday, while also creating 10 assists for his team-mates. It has seen Morelos even earn his first caps for Colombia.

Gerrard was asked about Morelos’ future in his pre-Hibernian press conference, as the Gers prepare to play host to Neil Lennon’s side on Wednesday evening. But the former Liverpool captain stated he is not for sale.

“My message is simply on Morelos, he is going nowhere,” Gerrard said. “He is a top class finisher, he must be a nightmare to play against. I see him constantly giving defenders a tough afternoon. He has a hunger to score goals.”

Colombian outlet Liga Deportiva claimed Rangers received a £5million offer from Marseille for Morelos in August, while a whole host of Turkish clubs were also linked with the former HJK Helsinki ace.

Rangers fans reacted on Twitter to Gerrard’s comments, and some reckon that a bid of around £15million and Morelos could leave the club in January. However, some were delighted to hear Gerrard state he is not going anywhere.
