Rangers could only draw 1-1 at St Johnstone on Wednesday night as they conceded a last-gasp penalty at McDiarmid Park.
Steven Gerrard named a much-rotated side given that Rangers face St Johnstone again this weekend, this time in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
Scott Wright seized his chance in the side as he opened the scoring, bending home a superb right-footed effort from a Steven Davis pass.
Rangers couldn’t hang on though as they conceded a last-gasp spot kick, which Liam Craig buried to give the Saints a share of the spoils.
With the title already wrapped up, Rangers won’t be too fussed about dropping two points here, but will hope for much better against St Johnstone this weekend.
Few players impressed last night, but Wright certainly did as the winger again showed promise following his February move from Aberdeen.

The wide man has shown flashes of his quality so far, and with his first goal now scored, fans are looking forward to more.
Some called him ‘sensational’ and ‘top drawer’, believing that he can make a huge impact going in to next season.
Others admitted that they weren’t sure about Wright when Rangers signed him, but are now glad he is proving them wrong by impressing under Gerrard.
