Glasgow Rangers face a Scottish Cup replay at Ibrox later this month.
Plenty of Rangers fans have criticised Scott Arfield’s performance during the Gers’ Scottish Cup stalemate on Saturday night, with some even suggesting that the club need to think about upgrading the summer signing at the end of the season.
Steven Gerrard’s side failed to book their place in the quarter-finals, but will be in the hat for the draw after playing out a 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. James Tavernier had a penalty saved during the first-half.
It appeared to be a game which highlighted how much Rangers will probably miss Alfredo Morelos while he is suspended. They struggled to produce that moment of game-changing quality in the final third.
And Arfield appears to be one of the players who has left the supporters disappointed for not making a greater contribution. The 30-year-old started in a midfield alongside Ross McCrorie and Ryan Jack, but failed to provide the creativity the side needed in that area of the field.
Arfield has enjoyed a decent first season at Ibrox so far, and he was one of the players that was excellent in the Old Firm win against Celtic before the turn of the year.
However, there are some who believe that Arfield is the midfielder who should drop out of the side for one of the January signings or Graham Dorrans when he returns from injury. And there are also some who have even suggested that Gerrard needs to consider thinking about recruiting a replacement in the near future.
