Glasgow Rangers will contest a Scottish Cup replay at Ibrox later this month.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers is seen in action during the Scottish Cup 5th Round match between Kilmarnock and Rangers at Rugby Park on February 9, 2019 in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

The goalless draw in the latest round of the Scottish Cup has clearly not provided Rangers fans with a performance that will live long in the memory – but one player was still lauded by the supporters following Saturday’s stalemate.

Ross McCrorie got another chance to impress in the middle of the park against Kilmarnock. The youngster started alongside Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack, and it appears that many Rangers fans felt that he was the best player on the pitch on a disappointing night for Steven Gerrard’s side.

James Tavernier had a penalty saved during the first-half, and Rangers failed to produce that one moment of quality they needed in a game that saw just three shots on target – all of which came from the visitors.

But McCrorie did produce a performance that the fans were very happy with. The youngster was combative against a physical Killie midfield, and he appears to be the one player that the Rangers fans have been unanimously positive about following the game.

A number of supporters are adamant that he is going to be Gers captain in the future, and that arguably says a lot given how well Tavernier has done as skipper this term. One even suggested that he could prove to be as important as Barry Ferguson was.

Some may have feared what this half of the season would look like for McCrorie, with Jack performing superbly, Graham Dorrans making his way back from injury, and Steven Davis and Glen Kamara coming in in January. But the additional competition appears to be bringing out the best in the academy graduate.
