Glasgow Rangers have reportedly decided that they are willing to let Wes Foderingham leave Ibrox this summer.

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to react to the reports emerging from The Scottish Sun which have suggested that Wes Foderingham could be allowed to leave Ibrox this summer after being told by Steven Gerrard that he is set to be third choice next season.

Foderingham has been with the Gers since 2015 and has been the club’s number one goalkeeper throughout his spell. The 27-year-old has made over 100 league appearances for the Light Blues and had arguably been one of the side’s most reliable performers over the last couple of years.

His form has not always convinced the supporters however, and there was unquestionably a lot of excitement when the club confirmed earlier in the summer that Allan McGregor had returned for a second spell.

The move undoubtedly left a major question mark over Foderingham’s future, but he seemed to make it clear on Twitter shortly after that he plans to stay and fight for his place at Ibrox. Unfortunately for the Englishman, it would appear that Gerrard has decided that the door is open for the stopper to leave this summer.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Scottish Sun reports that Foderingham is set to be third choice behind McGregor and Jak Alnwick and thus, the Gers will be open to offers for the goalkeeper during the rest of the summer, who is now said to be keen to move on if his first-team prospects are so bleak.

Interestingly, while there is some support for Gerrard’s decision, the majority of the supporters who taken to Twitter to discuss the reports appear to be disappointed that Foderingham is seemingly on his way out.

He has been a great servant for the club and it seems that some feel that Gerrard is being hasty with his decision as he could still have a role to play in the future.
