The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, is said to have identified the midfielder as an alternative to the former Ibrox favourite, Steven Davis.

Rangers fans are reacting on Twitter to reports linking Kevin McDonald with a move to Ibrox.
The Daily Record claims McDonald’s is one of the names on Rangers’ list of Steven Davis alternatives – adding that Fulham have made clear “they will not be difficult to deal with if McDonald wishes to leave the club” in January, after the Scotland international fell out of favour under Claudio Ranieri.
But what would Rangers fans make of McDonald’s arrival at Ibrox?
This is what they’re saying about the 30-year-old, who once admitted to the Daily Record that he is ‘kind of a Celtic fan’…
The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has seen his central midfield options decrease following the early termination of Ovie Ejaria’s loan spell.
And Davis is strongly tipped to fill the void left by the Liverpool youngster, despite his rumoured £65,000-a-week wages.

Davis is in the final year of his contract at St Mary’s, whereas McDonald’s still has 18 months left to run.
Would McDonald be a good addition for Rangers?
