Rangers have already been busy in the transfer market, but there could still be more additions on the way at Ibrox.

Ianis Hagi and Jermain Defoe have joined the club permanently, whilst Jon McLaughlin and Calvin Bassey have arrived too.

Another midfielder may still be on Steven Gerrard’s radar though, and Heidenheim star Niklas Dorsch has been one player linked with the club.

InFranken noted in May that Rangers fancy Dorsch, but faced competition from Hamburg with just a year left on his contract at Heidenheim.

Primarily a holding midfielder, Dorsch was in action on Monday night. Heidenheim were playing the second leg of their promotion/relegation play-off with Werder Bremen, and the tie was finally poised after a 0-0 draw in the first leg.

Bremen ended up victors last night with a 2-2 draw, with away goals saving their Bundesliga status for another year at least.

After the game, Rangers fans took to Twitter to suggest that this is ‘good news’ for the club’s hopes of signing him, believing that missing out on promotion will push him closer to Ibrox.

Some praised Dorsch’s display, noting that he was quality on the ball and caught the eye with a superb display; now, it’s all up to Rangers.
