Glasgow Rangers captain James Tavernier is being linked with a move away from Ibrox, with his former club apparently showing interest.

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Daily Mail over the weekend suggesting that James Tavernier is on Newcastle’s radar this summer.
Tavernier’s stock at Ibrox has arguably never been higher. He was superb throughout Steven Gerrard’s first campaign at Ibrox, and has certainly stepped up since being given the captain’s armband.
While most were penalties, Tavernier boasted a frightening goalscoring record last term. Only four players scored more times in the Scottish Premiership, with the Englishman finding the back of the net on 14 occasions.
It will come as no surprise therefore, that Tavernier appears to be attracting attention. The Daily Mail reports that new Magpies boss Steve Bruce wants to bring the defender back to St James’ Park, five years after he left Tyneside.

The report notes that Rangers are likely to listen to offers of around £8 million. But it appears that the supporters have no interest in the club accepting that sort of fee for the 27-year-old.
Several fans have suggested that Rangers should be holding out for £30 million for Tavernier, while another has claimed that his departure could be so harmful at this stage of the window that the Gers could almost immediately forget about winning the title during the coming campaign.

Here is how some of the Rangers fans reacted to the reports…
