The Ibrox prospect is potentially on the move from Rangers to Dundee this summer.

Dundee are hoping to add Rangers prospect Josh McPake to their squad on loan during this summer’s transfer window, The Evening Telegraph report.

The 17-year-old was in attendance at Dens Park on Sunday as the Championship side took on Aberdeen in Scottish League Cup action.

Manager James McPake is hoping that the performance of the Dees in the 2-1 extra-time defeat was enough to convince the player his short-term future is best served on Tayside.

As quoted by The Evening Telegraph, the Dundee boss said: “Hopefully, we will get a deal over the line for Josh and he will join us.

“I could have done with him yesterday.

“But he’s a player we hope to sign and, once again, the board have backed me, like they have done with every manager here.”

It would appear to be an excellent move for the player, who is hoping to take the next step in his development and convince Steven Gerrard he can be a part of Rangers’ long-term plans.

Having excelled at reserve level last year, getting senior football under his belt is a logical way forward.

Dundee are also a team looking to win most of their games and gain promotion back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

That pressure could suit the young player well and help him develop a mentality he’ll need at Ibrox.
