Glasgow Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter has not been included in the Ibrox side’s squad for the Europa League.

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that they fear that Jordan Rossiter’s Gers career is all but over after it was disclosed that he had been omitted from the club’s Europa League squad.

Rossiter has endured a torrid time since arriving at Ibrox in 2016. The 21-year-old has spent the majority of his time at the club on the sidelines, and goes into his third season with the Gers still awaiting just his 12th appearance for the Light Blues in all competitions.

What has made his absence all the more agonising for the player and the fans is that when Rossiter has featured for Rangers, he has often been one of the best players on the pitch. He was simply superb on the final day of last season as the Gers drew 5-5 at Easter Road.

And the appointment of fellow former Liverpool man Steven Gerrard appeared to provide another indication that the midfielder’s luck was about to change dramatically. But unfortunately, he suffered another injury near the start of pre-season.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is seen during the Scottish Premier League between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

At the time, the Daily Record suggested that the ankle problem left him as a doubt for their Europa League clash with Shkupi. And while that report did not specify how long he was expected to be out for, the fans would have been forgiven for feeling that the suggestion that he was a doubt for that tie hinted that he may not be out for too long beyond that game.

However, the most recent update on the youngster has come in the form of his omission from Rangers’ squad for their Europa League group-stage campaign. And that has left the fans feeling extremely concerned.

The group-stage campaign concludes in December and given that Gerrard has been able to name a 45-man squad – though many of the players have been included on the B list that Rossiter does not qualify for – there was undoubtedly an opportunity for the Gers boss to take a gamble and include Rossiter in the side, especially as it would be a surprise if half of the players named actually featured in the competition.

The fact that he is missing and there has been few updates from the club in recent times regarding his injury situation has left many supporters suggesting that they believe that he may be done at Ibrox.
