Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the Ibrox club with a move for Jonathan Klinsmann.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Klinsmann in the summer transfer window on a free.

It has been reported that Steven Gerrard’s side watched the 22-year-old goalkeeper in action during Hertha Berlin’s second-string side’s 2-0 defeat against Lokomotiv Leipzig last Friday night.

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the club with a move for the son of Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann – they seem confused that manager Gerrard wants another goalkeeper as they have quite a few players in that position already at the club.

Transfer process at Rangers

Meanwhile, Rangers director of football Mark Allen has explained how the transfer process works at the Ibrox club.

Football Scotland quotes Allen as saying: “The most important thing for me is that there is no single point of decision. Now, to qualify that, I don’t mean it’s a committee.

“What I mean is that we bounce off each other. There are a number of targets that are evaluated by the scouting department. Those targets are evaluated against what we believe we need. Ultimately then a list is produced.

“Those lists are discussed at length, looking at clips, going to watch the players, finding out as much as we can about their background and then we will sit down in a very small group, plot through the priorities and almost rank the players in terms of first preference, second preference etcetera because you are never convinced you are going to get a potential target over the line.

“And then ultimately myself and Steven will land, and I have said candidly ‘I will not sign a player that Steven doesn’t think will play in his first team.”

Advice for Steven Gerrard

Meanwhile, Celtic legend David Provan has an amusing advice for Rangers boss Gerrard in regard to make signings in the summer transfer window.

Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “With his two best players Morelos and Ryan Kent likely to leave in the summer, Gerrard’s close-season recruitment will have to be spot-on.

“Every time director of football Mark Allen recommends a player, Gerrard should check under the bonnet. He has enough snowflakes to be going on with.”
