Rangers have pulled off another signing without much speculation, as goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin has joined the club from Sunderland.
The Gers landed Ianis Hagi in a much-publicised deal, but the signing of Leicester City full back Calvin Bassey was barely mentioned before it was announced.
Today, Rangers are at it again. Out of absolutely nowhere, Rangers have announced the signing of goalkeeper McLaughlin on a two-year deal.
McLaughlin’s deal at Sunderland expires this summer, and Rangers have now won the race for his signature as he heads to Ibrox.
The 32-year-old stopper has two caps for Scotland, and returns north of the border having left Hearts for Sunderland back in 2018.
McLaughlin has previously turned out for Harrogate Town, Bradford City and Burton Albion, and now earns the biggest move of his career by joining Rangers.

With Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick moving on this summer, McLaughlin joins Rangers to offer competition behind Allan McGregor, and fans believe his arrival will allow Robbie McCrorie to go out on loan again.
Fans were surprised by the deal, feeling that the deal came ‘out of nowhere’, but many praised the club how they’re keeping signings under wraps before announcing them, with McLaughlin branded ‘quality’.
