The summer Ibrox recruit made his first appearance for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in Spain.

There have been few more daunting debuts than the one Joe Worrall faced for Rangers on Thursday. Without a competitive appearance all season, the summer loan signing from Nottingham Forest was thrust into Steven Gerrard’s Rangers team to face Villarreal at the expense of Nikola Katic.
And, despite falling behind to Carlos Bacca’s superb strike inside 45 seconds at the home of the Europa League Group G favourites, Rangers escaped with a commendable 2-2 draw which could have easily been more in the end.
Although Scott Arfield’s second half equaliser was swiftly eradicated by Moreno Gerard, Villarreal had no reply to Kyle Lafferty’s leveller 14 minutes from time.
