Glasgow Rangers continued their renaissance under Graeme Murty this weekend.
Rangers’ decision to part company with Pedro Caixinha already looks to be paying off, with caretaker boss Graeme Murty inspiring the kind of displays that were alarmingly absent under the Portuguese manager.
Many Gers fans now want Murty to get the job permanently but whatever happens he clearly knows how to get the best out of players who were previously under-performing at Ibrox.
Jason Holt is a case in point, with the 24-year-old looking like a different player since Murty took charge, providing an assist in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Partick Thistle as well as working his proverbial behind off.
Rangers’ goals came from Ross McCrorie, Daniel Candeias and Josh Windass, but Holt’s influence should not be understated and, on this evidence, he will be starting games more often than not between now and May.
In fact he will not only be starting them, he will be bossing them, and Rangers need that as they attempt to challenge Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership after a hit-and-miss start under Caixinha.
Rangers still have a lot of work to do, and it remains to be seen who will be in charge for the long haul, but in Holt they have a player seemingly desperate to prove his critics wrong.
